November 5 St. Guido Maria Conforti

Tribulation is more precious than gold and rest, to those whom God has chosen: “I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than live in the tents of wickedness.” Now during these days, you have been in a state of extreme discouragement in the house of our Lord, but the agony that tortured your heart did not cause you to lose hope in divine goodness. On the contrary, you always conformed your will to that of God’s, and with your will, you assiduously dwelled on the holy mount of Calvary. So the Lord wishes to reward the sadness you bore for love of him.

-St. Pio of Pietrelcina

Prayer in Time of Sickness

O Jesus, You suffered and died for us; You understand suffering; teach me to understand my suffering as You do; to bear in in union with You, to offer it with You to atone for my sins, and to bring Your grace to souls in need. Calm my fears; increase my trust. May I gladly accept Your holy will and become more like You in trial. If it be your will, restore me to health so that I may work for Your honor and glory and salvation of all.
