August 4 St. John Vianney

There is a joy that is not granted to the wicked, but only to those who worship you for your own sake, and for whom you yourself are joy. This is the happy life, to rejoice over you, to you, and because of you: this it is, and there is no other.

-St Augustine

Try to resemble that holy soul who wouldn’t give up the least part of her sufferings so as not to lose the merit thereof.

-St. Joseph Cafasso

Our Lady of Perpetual Help

O Mother of Perpetual Help, grant that I may ever invoke your most powerful name, which is the safeguard of the living and the salvation of the dying. O Purest Mary, let your name henceforth be ever on my lips. Whenever I call on you by name or even think of you, what consolation and confidence, what sweetness and emotion fill my soul!

I thank God for having given you so sweet, powerful, and lovely a name for my good. Let my love for you prompt me ever to greet you as Mother of Perpetual Help.
