February 3 St. Blaise

“…as soon as he, with hatred and displeasure of himself, manfully makes up his mind, saying, ‘I wish to follow Christ crucified,’ he breaks at once the thorn, and finds inestimable sweetness…some finding more and some less, according to their disposition and desire.”

-St. Catherine of Siena

Prayer to St. Blaise

Dear Bishop and lover of souls, you willingly bore heavy crosses in faithful imitation of Jesus. Similarly, with Christlike compassion you cured many sufferers. Then after undergoing horrible tortures you died as a Martyr of Christ. Obtain a cure for these (mention intentions) ills if this is agreeable to God.

Amen.
