I confess that I am bewildered and lose myself at the thought of the divine goodness, a sea without shore and fathomless, of God who calls me to an eternal rest after such short and tiny labors—summons and calls me to Heaven, to that supreme Good that I sought so negligently, and promises me the fruit of those tears that I sowed so sparingly.
-St. Aloysius Gonzaga
Prayer for the Dead
Into your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters. In this life you embraced them with your tender love; deliver them now from every evil and bid them enter eternal rest.
The old order has passed away: welcome them into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping nor pain, but fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
